Puerto Rico on December 11th. The original plant o pit Donaire against WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Scott Quigg fell apart when the latter did not agree to the offer.
While Juarez (17-3, 13 KO) presents a less appealing matchup than Quigg, the 23-year-old Mexican is at least a credible opponent and a massive step up from the likes of William Prado and Anthony Settoul, whom Donaire (35-3, 23 KO) summarily thrashed following his knockout loss to Nicholas Walters. He earned the biggest win of his career three months ago, a unanimous decision over former IBF Super Flyweight Champ Juan Carlos Sanchez.
Donaire's now 32 and hasn't had a great performance against quality opposition since perhaps his 2012 blowout of Toshiaki Nishioka. Even if he wins here impressively, is he still a factor at 122?
